“Jitterbug Perfume” by Tom Robbins gives a great insight into fragrance making and the “base note” – the non-Jewish version of the galbanum in the qetoret. Without the base note, a perfume becomes cloying and superficial. “Grind thoroughly thoroughly grind, because the sound is beneficial for the spices….”
