How we grow unconsciously

January 4th, 2011

Rebbe Nachman has set out a system whereby we are able to understand what Hashem is communicating to us and thereby grow.  But not everyone is able to understand on that level.  The rest of us also grow, but in a different, less conscious way.  Here’s how.

The world to come is knocking

December 6th, 2010

The World to come overlaps this one – the timeless world is knocking on the world of time, trying to open our minds to the infinite.  Hanukkah is what gives us the ability to see the World to Come nestled in this one.  With Rav Kook.

How G-d communicates with us

November 23rd, 2010

Join us as we begin a new lesson – Likutei Moharan Torah 54.  Rebbe Nachman speaks of memory – of the world to come!  We have to remember the larger context in which we live, and the ramifications of that.  And that affects every moment – every thought, word and action.

The difference between finding G-d and finding G-dliness

November 22nd, 2010

Rebbe Nachman talks about the two directions we have to get good at – one is going up and finding G-d, the other is going down, and finding G-dliness.  These are very different from each other – opposite, even – and need to be understood more deeply. The volume might be a bit quiet on [...]

What happens in heaven?

November 19th, 2010

We continue with Torah 82, where Rebbe Nachman describes Moshe’s two-fold approach to soul-success – going up and seeing G-d, and going down and seeing G-d.  Both are really hard.  Today we discuss what it means to “go up,” what the dangers are and what we can do to avoid them.

Rebbe Nachman Torah 82 – when to drop the bomb

November 11th, 2010

W discuss the two ways it can go Y-U-D and D-U-Y – are you a vessel that’s open to receiving, or not? and if not, sometimes someone has to “drop the bomb” to open you up.  When?  Who?  How?

Rebbe Nachman Torah – discussing our mahs

November 11th, 2010

After a confession from RGG that he doesn’t actually listen to anyone, we talk about our own mahs and how they are helping us look at our lives in a different way.  For those of you who don’t know, mah is the “what?” – Rebbe Nachman encourages us to ask “what is really here?” rather [...]

Either I’m in charge or Hashem’s in charge

September 27th, 2010

There are really only two ways to go.  There’s not enough room for two kings here – my world either reflects my intelligence or Hashem’s.  Seems like an obvious choice, but it is hard to do.

New Torah! The power of asking ‘mah’

September 27th, 2010

We started Torah 82 in tinyana.  This Torah revolves around how we liberate ourselves from our illusions by asking ‘mah’ – what is this?  So many people are afraid to ask ‘mah’ because they are afraid of the answer.  But if we ask, we will be connected to the wisdom and intelligence that Hashem put [...]

Don’t give up your spot!

September 27th, 2010

There are two primary kinds of work, called ratzo v’shov – running and returning.  We are supposed to master both of them – and Rebbbe Nachman says it is possible.   Sometimes our work is glamorous – we are high, and we have to reach a bit higher.  But sometimes we are doing nitty-gritty work of [...]
